The RPM and Debian packages will configure this setting automatically. No further configuration is required.
On Linux, you can increase the limits by running the following commands as root.
$ su - $ sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=262144
To set this value permanently, update the
vm.max_map_count setting in
$ vi /etc/sysctl.conf vm.max_map_count=262144
To verify that the setting works you can print it’s value:
$ sysctl vm.max_map_count
Another file you must edit for changing limits is
$ vi /etc/security/limits.conf apinizer - nofile 65536
